After Hours with Liliana Sputore

Known across the globe as the owner of the highly revered school Ritmo Caliente, Liliana Sputore is not only gorgeous, talented and wonderful to dance with, she's also smart, funny, caring and has WA in the palm of her hand.

Read on to see what our good friend Liliana had to say when we chatted After Hours.......

Who is Liliana Sputore?

Liliana Sputore, Argentinian born of European parents...now living in OZ....

Trapped in a intellectual mind but living in an artistic body and soul expressed in dance!

Tell us something about yourself that not many people might know.

Mmm.....  Although my roots are very Latin, I actually started to dance professionally in Australia.

Natalie Reis (now Zeller) was my inspiration in Australia for dancing On2 ...And of course Edie Torres and Seon stylist-Bristol in the US. I survive with very little sleep - as long as I have my dancing!

How did you discover Salsa and when was this?

Through a self development course at the time I was missing home (Argentina then)  ...A great timely comibination

Tell us about your Salsa story from the early days…

Kind of funny, I thought that because I was Latina I knew how to dance by virtue of birth lol... I quickly realised that  I had the rhythm and the feeling yet had a lot to learn! I did Tango before salsa but tango was doing my head in so I did chose salsa instead....Took me about 5 years to stop back-leading the guys OMG! Poor them! But now I no longer live in my head when I dance :-)...I am in my soul :-) Soon afterwards I started running my own dance school in Perth called Ritmo Caliente Dance Academy....

So when did your Australian story begin?

I moved to Australia over 20 years ago

What is your current favourite Salsa song?

"Amame - El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico"

Do you wear dance shoes and if so what type?

Yes and thanks to Ozdance, I have discovered style, class, comfort and the best dance shoes I ever had! What makes this so good is that they are very affordable and the help and service is incredible.
Nothing is impossible really.... Love these shoes!

What do you enjoy most about Latin dance?

The expression of the feeling of body moment, the passion and connection with another person that one can also experience in the dance, the music, the friendships, the lot!!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Dance even more.. And like nobody is watching! :)
